Tuesday morning, five Putnam County girls woke up anxious about the rest of the day. All of them preparing weeks in advance for the 2020 Fair Queen Pageant. The girls had to do four different activities: talent, activewear, formal wear, and the interview portion. The candidates for this year's pageant were Emily D., Kylea W., Shelby H., Sofia V., and Shaylea V.
Kylea W. did a wonderful job with her speech about softball being more to her than just sport but more of one big family. Shelby H. chose to sing a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Shaylea V. sang a cover of “You Say” by Lauren Daigle. Emily D. did a beautiful dance. Sofia V. sang to “Stand by Me” in Spanish.
The girls were walked in their formal wear by senior football players, Jaxon W., Colder E., Josh L., Jack H., and Jonathan K.
Finally came time for the crowning. Miss Congeniality went to Shaylea V., first runner-up went to Emily D., and the 2020 Putnam County Queen went to Sofia V.
Fair Queen is the experience of a lifetime with the constant support and love the others show and friendships you make along the way. I highly recommend trying out for Fair Queen in 2021 Seniors and Juniors!
