“Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?” A Book Review

Student Author: Vanessa B.

Everyone is at least slightly fascinated with death. The concept of dying is ingrained into so many parts of our culture: it plays into our religion, how we live our day-to-day lives, and what media we consume, such as crime documentaries and horror-thrillers. Most of this ties to peoples’ obsession with what happens to their bodies after they die. If you are as enamored with that question as most are, myself included, I highly recommend reading the clever and informative book “Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? Big Questions from Tiny Mortals about Death”. Written by mortician Caitlyn Doughty, this book answers popular queries about death offered by children, and does so with captivating information and mildly morbid but tasteful jokes. It covers many subjects, like embalming, viking funerals, and the namesake, will your cat eat your eyeballs. If you are looking to add a couple more wrinkles to your brain, to be amused by the range of comical questions, and/or just curious about the answers, this is the perfect book to read while snowed-in this frigid winter.
